Arts Program

Catholic Schools Week Art Contest

Artistic talent is a gift from God and whoever discovers it in himself has a certain obligation: to know that he cannot waste this talent, but must develop it.- Saint John Paul II

Students at Our Lady of Fatima take classes in the Arts every week.  Arts classes include:

  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Library & Media
  • Spanish

In Art, students use the school’s kiln to create pottery and go on field trips to the Denver Art Museum and artist studios.

In Music class, seventh and eighth grade students perform a musical every spring (past titles include Guys and Dolls, Annie, and Oklahoma). Grades K-6 perform in our Christmas and spring concerts, and all students learn to read and write music.

In Physical Education, students participate in the Presidential Fitness Challenge and sixth graders learn ballroom dancing.

In Spanish, students develop skills for speaking, listening, reading, and writing through simple materials and practice.  Students are also exposed to the cultural differences of Latin America.

In Library, students take the STAR Reading test to allow them to check out books that challenge their individual reading levels.  Students also take comprehension quizzes on the Accelerated Reader computer program.
